In a week full of live albums and re-releases, here are some of the stand out releases for today.

Metallica – The $5.98 EP – Garage Days Re-Revisited Reissue

The album EP that saw Jason Newsted play his first notes with the band, and ultimately lead to a lot of us thinking “wait, why couldn’t his bass sound like that on …And Justice For All“? The album is chalked full of underground classics that were originally recorded by Budgie, Killing Joke, and Misfits (among others), that were instantly made classics by the band’s die hard audience. The band has put out remastered editions of every album leading up to the EP, and will re-release the aforementioned …And Justice For All, later this year. The album is being released on picture disc, limited edition orange vinyl, black vinyl, CD and Cassette!

Breaking Benjamin – Ember

The Wilkes-Barre, PA hard rock/alternative metal band returns with their sixth studio album, which is produced by main man Benjamin Burnley. Burnley has promised this to be the band’s heaviest album to date, taking full advantage of their triple guitar attack.  The band has always taken cues from heavier bands such as Tool, and incorporated elements into their sound, melding some odd time signatures, and syncopated beats with the band’s signature sound which centers around Burnley’s voice.

Manic Street Preachers – Resistance Is Futile

The band that started out as a full on hard rock/glam rock band with their debut album Generation Terrorist, and was seen by many as the next big band after Guns N Roses, quickly veered off course, becoming more of an alternative rock band, where they have firmly stated all of these years later. The new album comes four years after Futurology, and although they never made the footprint in North America that many had predicted, they have always been hugely popular in the UK.
