The man known for crucifying himself on the Hollywood sign, being an author, and asking “Why Do You Think They Call It Dope?”, is back with a new single and album on Frontiers Records. I have to tell you that for the longest time I wasn’t really a fan of what the label had been releasing, not to say the material wasn’t bad, it was just that I prefered going back to albums from the 80s to get my fill of what they were releasing. But these last few years they have really turned things up and put out some quality albums by Last In Line, L.A. Guns and The Ferrymen instantly come to mind.
Being a fan of his work in Love/Hate, L.A. Guns, and considering myself a huge fan of Quiet Riot, I thought his release with the band was kind of stale, and his exit from the band seemed odd. Two singers later, and it pains me to say, a trainwreck release, and I kind of understand why he may of not wanted to work with the band. This new song by Jizzy, which also happens to be the title track of his upcoming release, gives you exactly what you want to hear from him, a track chalked full of maniacal riff that just stick in your head, and a simple but earworm of a chorus. What I’ve always found great about Jizzy’s work is it almost seems timeless, this song sounds fresh, yet it could have been released at anytime in the last few decades. And he always seems to find really good riffs to perfectly accompany his lyrics.
