Adam Wakeman and Damian Wilson have started a new podcast. Adam is obviously known for being the son of legendary keyboard player Rick Wakeman, and for being Ozzy’s keyboard player. Damian is probably a lot more known in Europe than in the US. Aside from being one of the singers to audition for Iron Maiden after Bruce Dickinson left the band, he’s a well known singer songwriter in the UK that’s been features on the BBC, has a part of a bunch of pretty well known progressive rock/metal projects, and guested on a ton of albums. He worked with Adam’s father on Rick Wakeman And The New English Rock Ensemble, worked with Arjen Anthony Lucassen on Ayreon, Star One and Stream Of Passion, and then in 2007 recorded with Headspace a band that featured Adam. He’s also working with Adam on two solo albums, as well as released music on the Damian Wilson & Adam Wakeman banner.
I mention all of this, because you can obviously tell there is a special chemistry between the both of them when listening to the first episode of their show. It’s more like being the proverbial fly on the wall when two friends chat. The cool thing is that they’re telling stories that are easy to digest, not like other shows that may have a similar premise, but may contain a lot of jokes that are too inside to pick up on. They’re smart enough to keep it palatable for everyone, they banter about music, life in general, and about some of their quirks. Although they may not set out to intentionally out themselves, with regards to the aforementioned quirks, the stories are continuous, and entertaining.
