For all of the crap Metallica receives, one thing people can’t dispute is their stance when it comes to making their live shows available to fans.  While most band polish a live album for months to make it sound pristine and perfect, the band has for years used to offer shows a few days after they have taken place, warts and all.  Prices ranging from $1.29 for a single track to between $9.99 for the full show on MP3 to $19.81 for it on CD (other options are available too).  But with the start of their latest US tour, they have decided to give ticket buyers live recordings of the shows they attend for free.

As per the official press release:

WorldWired returns to North America this Sunday and as always, all shows will be recorded and available in a variety of downloadable formats, as well as on CD, within a few days of us walking off the stage. And now, even better, every 2018/19 North American ticket includes a FREE MP3 DOWNLOAD of the show(s) you and attend. Hold onto that ticket stub after the show and head over to, to scan or enter the barcode from your ticket to download your show.

Note that this only covers standard shows, and not festival dates, benefit shows, or promos of any sort.
