For the last few months the metal world has been on edge with the announcement that Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine had cancer.  There have been rumblings along the way, but we haven’t really heard anything regarding Dave officially in some time; and if he would be involved in the Megacruise one way or another.  The cruise takes place in roughly a month, between October 13th and 18th.  Earlier today the Megadeth camp sent out an update on the cruise, and actually sent out an update by Dave himself:

I wanted to take a moment to give you all an update on the current status of my health. I’m almost through the last round of treatment and my doctors are feeling very positive regarding my progress. I want to thank all of you for the support and well wishes these last few months. I can’t express enough gratitude as it has made this hard road easier knowing you are in my corner fighting with me!

Over the next few weeks my condition will be evaluated, and I will keep you posted on my progress as we get closer to the sailing date of the first Megacruise! We can’t wait to see you, and I know all of the other wonderful artists feel the same way. Let’s make this event one for the record books. Less than 30 days till we are Thrashing through the Pacific!

See you all very soon.

Dave

So it looks like he will be present at the cruise, one would hope he could perform in some capacity, but beggars can’t be choosers. I’m sure most of us would prefer to have a healthy Mustaine in the long run, over one that rushes to get involved in something that sets his health back. We all wish him a speedy recover.

Oh and this just dawned on me while writing this post, first time Armored Saint and Anthrax will be performing at the same event, same day, could we see some Bush era Anthrax?
