Roughly a year ago Spongebob Squarepants creator Stephen Hillenburg passed away.  The show, and its movies are no strangers to the world of hard rock and metal, as Hillenburg featured Motorhead doing “You Better Swim” which is a variation of their track “You Better Run”,  musical interludes by Pantera, and several parodies including “Goofy Goober Rock” which is a play on Twisted Sister’s “I Wanna Rock”.  Years ago when interviewing former Vinnie Vincent Invasion singer Robert Fleischman he stayed tight lipped about his time in the band, thus torpedoing the interview in seventeen seconds.  He did however cope to writing music for the show as well.

Today David Glen Eisley paid tribute to Hillenburg, as he posted about an episode he was involved in, where Spongebob and company took to the stage during halftime of the Bubble Bowl.  Eisley’s voice was used during this segment.  He released a brand new version of the track along with Grammy Award winning producer Bob Kulick.

This is what Eisley posted on twitter:

Here is the actual performance, as it appeared on the show:
