ENTER SHIKARI, MYRATH, INCUBUS, DANZIG, DAVID BOWIE AND MORE
In a kind of slow week, there are all kinds of full lengths, EPs, live albums and compilations released today.
Enter Shikari – Nothing Is True & Everything Is Possible
I’ve been a fan of this band since the release of their first album, Take To The Skies. That album was so groundbreaking with its mix of techno like keyboards, and metal. Since then the band has gone on to mix almost every genre of music you can think of with their brand of heaviness. Some on the more metal side, and others not so much. this is a band that demands a certain kind of loyalty. You’re either committed, and dive head first into what they have to offer. Or you kind of you don’t get it. Their live shows are energetic and incredible. They never stop, whether it’s on stage or in the crowd. This is the band’s sixth album, their first 2017’s The Spark.
The Black Dahlia Murder – Verminous
The band isn’t throwing you any curveballs here. This album is an extension of what you’ve come to love by the band. This isn’t them doing any smooth jazz, no clean vocal, or anything that varies off of what you’ve come to love from them. The fact of the matter is the band has been around for almost two decades now, eighteen years to be exact. This is their eight studio album, how many other bands do you know of that have put out roughly an album every two years? They’ve also toured almost non-stop over the years. Landing coveted opening spots for well known bands. Or headlining themselves as part of a package. Talking Metal interviewed lead singer Trevor Strnad a few years back, after their appearance at Heavy Montreal.
Absolva – Side By Side
Here is a band from the U.K. that’s been around for close to a decade and is releasing their fifth album. They aren’t reinventing the wheel. But they are creating catchy melodies, layered over top of crunchy riffs. They harken back to heavy metal that came out between 83 to 89, with a modern twist on things. Another one for the nothing after 89 is good crowd to chew on. A great mix of the old with the new.
