THE STADIUM TOUR RE-SCHEDULED FOR NEXT YEAR
The Stadium Tour featuring Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Poison, and Joan Jett & The Black Hearts has been a big topic of conversation these last few month. Today, it’s back in the news. We heard rumblings of this tour late last year when rumors began to circulate that Motley Crue where coming back. Remember they had decided that they were no longer going to tour. And a skeptic like myself, said from day one, there was no way that they could stay away forever given their lifestyles. Cash eventually runs out!
Here’s The Stadium Tour Announcement With Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Poison, and Joan Jett & The Black Hearts:
Fast forward to the COVID 19 pandemic in the spring of 2020. This lead to tours being cancelled left and right. But you had Tommy Lee and Bret Michaels continuously saying the tour was still on, while other tours were being postponed. They were one of the last tours to pull the plug. Perhaps this was them waiting things out, hoping that the tour could be salvaged? Or holding out that a force majeure clause would cover any expenses that may come along from cancelling a tour.
I would imagine that the hardest thing to do is ensure that all four bands would be able to come back to The Stadium Tour if it were to be postponed. These are all bands that do well for themselves on their own. But you know, strength in numbers, Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Poison, and Joan Jett & The Black Hearts. It’s much easier to sell this sort of tour bundle, then it is selling just one of these acts on their own. Hence why they’re able to play stadiums. Otherwise, which of these bands could sell the same venues on their own?
Word has come down today that the The Stadium Tour is back on. The dates have all been rescheduled, like most of the other postponed tours, dates have been setup for next year.
All tickets for this year’s shows will be accepted at next year’s dates. If by chance you can’t make it, you can get a refund. Aside from there being continuing issues from the Coronavirus, I doubt fans won’t be able to make it to next year’s shows. Sure anything is possible, but we’re a year out. Besides, when do you expect to see Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Poison, and Joan Jett & The Black Hearts together again?
We’re not talking about Greta Van Fleet and Dirty Honey here. Sure you bring up the logistics of those bands playing stadiums, but I’m focusing my angle on the fact that they’re young bands. Theoretically, you should be able to see those bands for years to come. While, those that are part of The Stadium Tour are on the opposite side of the spectrum. They’re not exactly young, like most us. But they’re young at heart, and their music helps us stay that way as well. Also, consider the fact that it may actually be your last chance to see any one of these bands live, none the less see them all together.
The tour essentially starts a year from now on Saturday June 19th in Nashville, TN. The three month tour will wrap up on Sunday August 12th in San Diego, CA. Not only will it still be a hot ticket, but plenty of metal sites will be waiting for the drama to ensue. Aside from this, Def Leppard should have already been inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame. Joan Jett and her Black Hearts are the only other band on the tour that can claim that achievement.
I am honestly stoked that this tour is back on, should be a lot of fun.
