Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee was recently interviewed by Jason Pettigrew for Alternative Press. During the interview he defended is right to be political, as well as to always follow his own path when it comes to music. This hasn’t always sat well with Mötley Crüe fans, as Tommy can attest:
“There are a lot of Mötley fans that are out there saying,“What the fuck is he doing? This doesn’t sound like Mötley at all.” I was like, “No fucking shit. There’s no one from Mötley on this fucking record. What are you talking about?” It was so fucking stupid. For the most part, my friends are like, “Tommy’s fingers are right on the pulse, or always one step ahead.“
From “Planet Boom” to Methods Of Mayhem, to his solo albums, should tracks like “Push Push” or “Knock Me Down” really surprise anyone in 2020? It may not be your musical taste, but at the end of the day, Tommy is just defending his right to put out music he enjoys and talk about topics that he feels connected to.
